The Military Tradition at NCSU

Leaders make a difference for the future. The Leadership in the Public Sector program gives you the chance to make a difference for yourself, your nation and the world.

Leadership in the Public Sector (LPS) is an undergraduate degree completion program that is delivered entirely by distance education. LPS is specifically created to provide military and non-traditional students with a liberal arts foundation in the ethical, theoretical, and policy analytical skills necessary to be effective leaders in public sector organizations. The LPS core curriculum focuses on leadership in local, state, federal, and nonprofit organizations, but the program itself includes a broad range of courses that allow students to complete their bachelor’s degree requirements within North Carolina State University’s College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.

The LPS program, thus, allows students to advance their military career or prepare for transition to the civilian sector no matter where they are stationed or deployed, and earn a B.A. degree that is identical to any other NC State University degree. LPS graduates find career opportunities in public and nonprofit organizations, and in firms, and additional educational options in political science, public administration, nonprofit sector management, and law.
